Running Time
Short film entries must be under 40 minutes in length. Running time is calculated from the head frame to the last frame on the end credits.
Completion Date
Films or videos must have been completed after January 1, 2025.
Entry Fee
The appropriate entry fee must accompany each entry. Entry fees are nonrefundable and cover screening and handling costs.
Copyright & Credits
Films using uncredited or non-licensed copyrighted musical or literary properties without legal permission and appropriate attribution are not eligible.
Open to Filmmakers
The competition is open to both professional and nonprofessional filmmakers.
Online Festival
Melbourne Independent Film Festival is an online film festival and there will be no physical screening.

Make sure your completed film meets the festival's eligibility requirements.
Submit
Submit your film and required information through FilmFreeway before the applicable deadline.
Be Seen
Your film enters the competition and may be considered for official selection and awards.
Entries must be submitted in the completed form in which they will be judged. The decisions of the Jury are final. The Jury reserves the right not to select a winner in any given category and may change a category to the benefit of the film.
